Choosing this construction
Long products require a base matched to their support needs and the handling route. Overall length alone does not show where the cargo needs support, whether it can flex or how it will be restrained.
Identify support and handling points
Send a drawing showing product overhang, concentrated weights and permitted lifting positions. Describe vehicle loading and the equipment available at both ends. Long bases can create handling constraints that are not present with standard footprints.
A practical specification example
A bundle of profiles may need support along its length while a long machine may load just a few feet. These are different designs even at the same total weight. Review the complete packed unit with the supplier and transport operator.
Treatment and marking for the finished packaging
Tell us where the goods are being packed and their final destination. Include collars, blocking and other raw timber used with the base. Ask for the treatment and marking requirement to be confirmed for the offered construction. Neither entry type, footprint nor new condition is proof of ISPM 15 compliance. Changes after the packaging is supplied should be referred back to the responsible provider.
