Plastic and processed-wood pallet alternatives

Compare non-wood and processed-wood options with the demands of your export shipment.

Choose for the application

Start with the load, equipment and receiving customer’s rules. Alternatives may be worth considering where wood handling, moisture or return logistics are difficult. Compare the exact design and performance specification rather than treating every plastic or processed-wood pallet as equivalent.

Check every component

A non-wood base does not remove the need to review raw timber elsewhere in the packing assembly. Tell us about collars, blocking and any other wood you plan to add. If you are relying on a processed-wood exemption, confirm the complete construction with the supplier and the destination requirements with your forwarder.

Ask for the actual product details

Request the dimensions, handling compatibility and supported load conditions for the offered product. Confirm any customer restrictions before choosing a substitute. Availability, material, design, pricing and delivery are subject to the product offered for your enquiry.

Build a repeatable purchasing record

Keep the product identity, drawing revision and accepted construction together with the treatment requirement. If a substitution is proposed, compare it against the cargo and handling process before accepting it. An identical footprint is not enough to establish equivalence.

For repeat orders, tell the team about forecast volumes and the frequency of use. Agree how changes to the load, destination or receiving equipment will be communicated. This helps purchasing, packing and goods-in use the same information.

Compare the complete delivered offer

Ask which product and condition the quotation covers, what treatment and marking are included and how delivery is arranged. Include unloading equipment and any booking restrictions. An ex-yard price and a delivered price should be reconciled before comparison. Lead times, charges and availability are confirmed against the actual enquiry.
