Used pallets for export

Assess condition, consistency and marking before choosing a used pallet for a shipment.

A job-specific choice

Used pallets can be considered where the customer’s specification permits them. Begin with the load and handling requirements, then review the condition and compliance status of the offered stock. Ask for clarity on size, construction and inspection rather than relying on a broad trade grade.

Consistency matters in practice

For manual packing, variation may create extra sorting work; for an automated line, small differences may be unacceptable. Describe your process and any tolerances. Do not assume one sample represents every pallet in a mixed load. Agree what the supplier will provide and how a mismatch will be resolved.

Export checks still apply

Used condition does not settle treatment status. Ask about markings and any repair history relevant to the offered supply. Quarantine units with damage, unclear marks or other concerns before use. Availability, specification and suitability must be confirmed against your enquiry.

Build a repeatable purchasing record

Keep the product identity, drawing revision and accepted construction together with the treatment requirement. If a substitution is proposed, compare it against the cargo and handling process before accepting it. An identical footprint is not enough to establish equivalence.

For repeat orders, tell the team about forecast volumes and the frequency of use. Agree how changes to the load, destination or receiving equipment will be communicated. This helps purchasing, packing and goods-in use the same information.

Compare the complete delivered offer

Ask which product and condition the quotation covers, what treatment and marking are included and how delivery is arranged. Include unloading equipment and any booking restrictions. An ex-yard price and a delivered price should be reconciled before comparison. Lead times, charges and availability are confirmed against the actual enquiry.
